A Whole New Word

In honor of Senator Larry Craig's (R-ID) arrest for lewd behavior in a public men's restroom, my dear friend the Honorable Mr. Aqeel created a new word:

Homophobosexual [noun] "hO-m&-'fO-b&-'sek-sh&l" A republican or right-wing male with an overpowering sexual attraction to hypocrisy, bigotry, and other men.

The horror! The horror!*

In our never ending journey into the morass of American culture, that Associated Press reports today that one in four Americans didn’t read a book last year. It only gets worse when you realized that that really means one in four Americans admits he didn’t read a book last year.

My first thought was actually that I shouldn’t worry too much. Universal literacy is a pretty new concept historically speaking, and didn’t we do alright? I mean we did create the underpinnings of western culture. In fact, things were pretty good as long as you weren’t a peasant, slave, serf, leper, woman, child, indentured servant, foreigner, or Jew.

Oh yeah. That's what happens when you don't have an educated democratic populace.

In that light, this line made a lot more sense:

There was even some political variety evident, with Democrats and liberals typically reading slightly more books than Republicans and conservatives.

Yep. That sounds about right.

* - One in four Americans doesn’t get the reference.

Link from Boing Boing

I suggested a link to Boing Boing and they actually used it.

And they said my theology major was a waste of time . . .

Coolest thing ever.

I just discovered that on Flickr one can arrange ones photos not only by date and subject, but by geography. I've therefore been able to make this awesome map whereby you can see what pictures I've taken where.

This brings me one step closer to my dream of being able to see a map showing all the paths I've traveled in my entire life. I imagine that if Flickr was owned by google, I'd be able to do that by now.
